Duration : 15 Nights/ 16 Days

Full day at leisure to relax after the international flight..
Day 03 : BOMBAY
Morning : Guided tour of Elephanta Island, in the middle of Bombay's harbour.
The island was inhabited by a colony of monks around the 6th century. Elephanta
is famous for its rock-cut cave temple, and especially for the massive image
of Trimurti, the trinity of India mythology.
Afternoon: Guided tour of Bombay, a city at once modern and historical. Built
on seven islands, Bombay came into British hands several centuries ago as
part of the dowry of Catherine de Braganza of Portugal when she married Charles
II. The spirit of the Raj still lingers in the fine old buildings of the Fort
area, yet the city is thoroughly Indian. Its 9½ million people are
drawn from all over India, and Bombay is a lively melting pot of many cultures.
During your tour of the city, it grows on you and unfolds before your eyes.
The sombre majesty of Victorian Gothic architecture seems at peace with the
hurly-burly of the commercial area in its shadows.
Day 04 : BOMBAY

FULL
DAY OF GOLFING at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club at Chembur, opened in 1940
as the implementation of a masterplan drawn up by international golf star Peter
Thompson. Chembur's greens are the slickest and best in India. The fairways
are much finer and tighter than the lush lies of Delhi and Calcutta and require
a more exacting fairway wood shot. Additionally, Chembur has the characteristics
of variable and shifting sea breezes and more humidity than in the other cities.
Of its 110 acres, the heart-land and beauty of the course is "across the
road". Here the 441-yard, par 4, fourteenth, played from the back markers
of the championship trees, with its lightning fast green, and the interesting
dog-legged, tree-obstructed 430-yard, par 4, fifteenth, are as much a challenge
as can be found anywhere. And as the prevailing southwesterly evening wind freshens
the critical closing stages of a match, the but also of boldness and courage.
The annual All India Amateur Golf Championship which attracts a large number
of international competitors was first played here in 1964.
Day 05 : BOMBAY / MADRAS
Morning : At leisure.
Afternoon : Arrive Madras and transfer to the hotel.
Day 06 : MADRAS
Morning : A guided tour of Mahabalipuram, a temple-town by the sea, with some
excellent examples of temple architecture. Mahabalipuram, is an ancient coastal
port - south of Madras. Here you will see many sculptures and temples of typical
South Indian architectural design; the Five Radhas - a group of monolithic monuments
and animal figures carved out of solid rock; the Shore Temple, lashed by the
waves of the sea; and the huge frescoe, "The Penance of Bhagirath".
.
Afternoon : Guided tour of Madras. Madras was the first toehold of the British
East India Company on India soil. Later it was the center of the Anglo-French
Carnatic wars for supremacy on the Indian sub-continent. You will visit the
National Art Gallery and Museum, housing some of the best examples of early
South Indian history --- notable bronzes of the Chola period. The tour will
also take you to the Cathedral of San Thome, the Mylapor Temple and St. Mary's
Church.
Day 07 : MADRAS

FULL
DAY GOLFING --- The venue could be the Madras Gymkhana Club, or the greens at
Saidapet, or in the unique atmosphere of the Guindy Race Club surrounded by
the race - tracks that have been pounded by thundering horse-hooves, and yet

would be the possibility to arrange a mini-tournament to match your skills against
the many ardent golfers whose love for the game is nurtured by their sponsors,
viz. old commercial houses of British origin.
